The Pioneer Valley Railroad is an aggressive, customer oriented short line railroad operating in Western Massachusetts. Formed in 1982, the PVRR directly serves industries in the cities of Westfield and Holyoke. The lines were originally built by the old New Haven Railroad and were owned by Conrail prior to 1982.
The PVRR connects daily with the CSXT in Westfield, MA.
In order to allow the many local industries that do not have direct rail access to take advantage of the railroad’s service, the PVRR offers several intermodal alternatives, providing various transloading-storage-truck delivery programs for a variety of packaged and bulk commodities.
In addition to the businesses currently on line, there are several industrial properties along the line available for development.
The Pioneer Valley Railroad is part of the Pinsly Railroad Company, which includes the Arkansas Midland, Florida Central, Florida Midland, and Florida Northern Railroads. The company, which was founded in 1938 by Samuel Pinsly, also owns and operates Railroad Distribution Services (RDS), providing warehousing and trucking services in each of their operating areas.
